What is it about a big snow that gets everyone excited? For people who live where it snows a lot they may not feel the same about a blanket of snow in March. Ashley had told me a few weeks ago that she was disappointed with Christmas this year and when I asked why she said because Santa forgot to bring us the snow. I told her this morning that I think Santa was just a little late with it.

I got the phone call last night that school was to be cancelled today so my children went to bed with excitement and anticipation of this great predicted snow. Well their wishes came true and so did mine. The last few winters in Delaware have been mild ones and I myself have been longing for a good snow. This is the most my little Ashley has ever seen. The last one we had like this was about a week before she was born.

I was up at 7:30 this morning and out side taking care of my animals. I was a sight to see and grateful no one was around to take a picture of me! I am too lazy that early in the morning to actually change, so what do I do?...I put my coat and boots on over my robe and PJ's and head on out. The snow is so deep that it went in my boots. When I opened the chicken house they were not sure about coming out. It was a challenge for them to hop through it.

I have promised to take the kids sled riding around lunch time....Now for any of you that do not live in Delaware it is very flat here and you are hard pressed to find a hill to go down. We will have to drive to it. I am waiting for Jonathan's assessment of the roads. He is out on his tractor plowing ours and the entire neighborhoods driveways. Who needs a snowblower when you have a man with a tractor! The one hill is over by the high school and is a very popular place to go. I will be sure and take pictures then!

If it is not obvious from the outfit in this picture, let me just say that I am already at work by the time my children get up and start to get ready for school. I have told Jonathan for years "jeans and a t shirt" and your safe. He has always requested that I place their clothes in a zip lock bag and label them for each day of the week.....well we made a comprimise. I will help Ashley lay out her clothes the night before so she knows what to put on in the morning.....can I just say that I forgot last night! My dear little kindergarter has her own sense of style. You cannot see to well from the picture but those tights are striped with a rainbow of colors! And that is not a shirt but a body suit with rhinestones! I really had a good chuckle when I got home from work and saw the outfit. Needless to say I will try not to fail in my attempt to lay out the clothes each night but truely....I am a busy woman and I make no promises!

Morgan's first goose hunting trip.

Can you guess who didn't go hunting? Who says a man needs a son to teach him to shoot and hunt? So he can have a partner for those long awaited hunting trips. I am proud to say that I have 2 very well rounded girls who like to dance, sing, wear dresses, and shoot guns with their Dad. Jonathan took Morgan on her first Goose hunting trip last weekend. They woke up at 430 in the morning to secure their spot in the blind at Bombay Hook wildlife park. I think it was probably only 20 degrees that morning! They were there until about 1 in the afternoon. Morgan came home smiling from ear to ear. She was so pleased with herself. She got one goose all by herself. Morgan is not a very big kid and her gun packs a little kick. Jonathan says she is tough! He was so thrilled and proud of her. I think they plan to go again tomorrow. Ashley can't wait until she is big enough to go. What's a Mom to do? I always wished I had a son for Jonathan.....I guess it doesn't really matter.

Yes Ashley... there is a tooth fairy!

It finally happened....she lost her first tooth! According to her she yanked it out. Of coarse it was hanging by a thread. She was so excited. The tooth fairy left her 2 dollars! Life is good. There is nothing sweeter than your five year old sharing the simple pleasures in life with you. What joy and excitement there is in everything life has to offer. Especially when you are 5!

Fish Beware!

I have spent my life around fisherman. My Dad's one true love is to fish. His requirement for securing a permanent new home to live out his retirement was "How good is the fishing and how long is the season?" After much consideration Mom and Dad retired and moved to Florida about 6 years ago. Dad prefers freshwater fishing....mostly for bass. Overall he is a catch and release kind of guy. In my mind I learned from a pro at an early age how to bait my own hooks and land the beast. I am also please to admit that my girls find fishing fascinating. We keep poles in the camper for the occasion where there may be a pond or some body of water to fish in on our camping excursions. Over the summer Mom and Dad joined us on a camping trip to Cherrystone in Virginia and Dad took Morgan, my nephew Brandon, and my husband on a charter boat fishing trip. Morgan was in her glory as she caught the most fish! Now Dad has had a few boats over the years and has frequented many a lake with them. You can pretty much guarantee that during the months of peak fishing he will not venture far from home.

Over Christmas Break Jonathan took Dad along with some family and friends out onto the Chesapeake Bay and into the ocean for some deep sea fishing. Striper was on the agenda for the catch. Unfortunately the fish were not biting too much that day but Jonathan and LeAnn were able to land a few big ones. Morgan sat this one out as the fish were bigger than her and she probably could not have reeled one in alone!
Happy Fishing!

This is Nora Tess. I call her Boo because if you have ever seen Monsters Inc. she looks just like the little girl in the movie. She is so sweet and we really enjoyed having her at the house over Christmas. It was nice that her parents came too! My girls would fight over her.....I can only imagine what it would be like if we had another baby! Nora took a little tumble down a stair the day before they left and broke her arm :( She was a real trooper though. She is back home in Wyoming now and hopefully feeling lots better! We miss you Nora!
